Beckmansalumni på 3daysofdesign i Köpenhamn

The art and design collective Swedish Girls, made up of four alumni from BA Product Design, is exhibiting the bench "BOYS" at Copenhagen's biggest design festival.

3daysofdesign takes place all over Copenhagen between 15-17 June. Swedish Girl's participation in the festival is part of Beckman's alumni activities.

"We want to strengthen the position of contemporary Swedish design on the international market and provide opportunities for talented young designers to meet players within the design industry," says Annika Berner, Head of External Relations at Beckmans College of Design Stockholm.

About the design and art collective Swedish Girls

The group Swedish Girls consists of Josefin Zachrisson, Julia Jondell, Matilda Ström Ellow and Mira Bergh Edenborg, who all graduated from the BA Product Design programme in 2019. All members of the collective have their individual practices that span a wide field within design and art.

Together, they describe their work as "conceptualised reality" and portray it through both physical and digital installations. Part of the Swedish Girls, Mira Bergh and Josefin Zachrisson, are also present this summer with Utomhusverket 2022 at ArkDes, the museum's annual summer installation.

BOYS bench at Kongernes Lapidarium in Copenhagen 15-17 June

The BOYS bench was created in 2021 for Stockholm KONST's annual summer exhibition on the theme of democracy to mark 100 years since female voting rights were introduced.

The bench was made as a site-specific work outside Stockholm City Hall on Kungsholmen and the all-women graffiti collective BOYS was invited to co-create it. For 3daysofdesign, the collective has created new graffiti for the bench. The work wants to focus on a visual discussion about democracy, who is allowed to take place in public spaces and what is considered art.

You can see the bench at Kongernes Lapidarium in Copenhagen, a 400-year-old dock house where some 50 players in architecture, design and furniture will gather from 15-17 June for a joint exhibition.
