Amanda Borgfors Mészàros is one of Vogue Talents 2018
Paris Fashion Week in September
Amanda Borgfors Mészàros has been widely recognized even before graduating from Beckman College of Design. Her collections have been shown at Stockholm Fashion Week, in the Designers' Nest competition at Copenhagen Fashion Week and at Paris Fashion Week. Her collection Global Nomad was a finalist in the Hong Kong-based Redress Design Award last fall and was also selected for Young Swedish Product design 2018. In June, she was one of five talents to receive the Bernadotte Art Award for her work. Next up for her is Paris Fashion Week in September, where she will be participating for the second time and showing her graduation collection from Beckmans.
Quality over quantity
Amanda Borgfors Mészàros works on the basis of a craft-based practice where quality is always superior quantity. Hand stitching and hand embroidery are often mixed with machine stitching, where the choice of materials has a crucial role to play. Materials such as vegetable tanned waste leather are frequent as well as a newfound favorite – woven ribbons, which she overlaps to create sculptural garments and thus greatly reduce waste in manufacturing.
